McMillan Encourages People in Inverclyde to Register for Voting

With the next Scottish Parliament election only seven months away West of Scotland MSP Stuart McMillan MSP is encouraging people in Inverclyde to make sure they are registered to vote.

Scots will next be called to the polls in May next year and with the possibility that Westminster election boundaries may also be redrawn, it is important that people ensure they are counted in any review of constituencies.

Mr. McMillan said;

"Next May's election will give people in Inverclyde the chance to vote for a government in Scotland that can lead us through the tough times we are facing.

"Obviously, in my opinion that is a government with experience and who will stand up for Scotland without bowing down to pressure from Westminster counterparts.

"At a time when we have a UK Government that Scotland didn't want and didn't vote for electing a strong Scottish Government, to stand up for and speak up for Scotland is more important than ever.

"With Westminster's plans to cut Scotland's representation, based on the number of people registered to vote, it is important we maintain the strongest possible voice at Westminster.

"However, regardless of who you vote for it is important to make sure you are registered to vote to ensure a fair and democratic process, and that means ensuring as many voters as possible are on the electoral role.

"Anyone in Inverclyde can do this by visiting www.aboutmyvote.co.uk or phoning 0141 842 5922."
