McMillan Welcomes Drop in Crime in East Dunbartonshire

Stuart McMillan MSP, (SNP) has today (Wednesday) welcomed the news from the Scottish Government that there has been a drop in recorded crime from 2006-07 to 2009-10.

Mr McMillan received the response, from the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, in a Parliamentary Question he raised asking the Scottish Government how many crimes were recorded in (a) 2006-07 and (b) 2009-10, broken down by local authority area.

Mr McMillan said;

"I welcome the news from the Scottish Government that recorded crime in East Dunbartonshire has dropped from 4,874 incidents in 2006-07 to 4,047 in 2009-10.

"These figures clearly demonstrates the actions taken by this SNP Government to tackle crime in our communities is paying dividend.

"The 1,000 extra police officers on our streets has been an important step to reassure the public that the SNP Government is committed to creating safer streets and communities."
