McMillan Welcomes Insulation Cost Help
Stuart McMillan MSP, (SNP) has welcomed a cash injection from the Scottish Government to help households in East Dunbartonshire save on fuel bills.
13,600 homes in Kirkintilloch are going to be offered loft and cavity wall insulation to help drive down costly fuel bill in preparation for winter.
Low-income households will be offered free insulation, with higher-income households receiving a discounted deal.
The package of measures will help households save, on average, £50 a year on fuel bills and significantly cut carbon emissions in the home.
Mr. McMillan said;
"This is a fantastic opportunity, not just for householders to cut their own fuel bills and cut down their carbon emissions but the scheme will create and sustain employment opportunities for energy advisors, insulation manufacturers and installers in East Dunbartonshire.
"If we have a winter like last year it will be an even more welcome funding package.
"I know that lots of people are keen to make their homes more energy efficient and this is a great example of the Scottish Government working with the green industry to deliver a way of doing just that.
"This will also go a long way to eradicating fuel poverty in East Dunbartonshire and I am pleased the funding is coming in this direction".
