McMillan Welcomes Reservoir Safety Bill

Stuart McMillan MSP (SNP) has today (Wednesday) welcomed the Reservoir Safety Bill that was introduced as part of the SNP Government's legislative programme for the year ahead.

The Reservoir Safety Bill will help to improve public safety and protection from flooding by introducing standards for safety and maintenance of reservoirs. Mr McMillan spoke in the debate on the SNP Government's legislative programme and highlighted the importance of the proposed Reservoir Safety Bill.

Mr McMillan said:

"I welcome the proposals brought forward by the SNP Government to introduce legislation on reservoir safety and was pleased to take part in a Parliamentary debate on the issue.

"Flooding is an issue that affects us all in Inverclyde and any legislation that can be introduced to help further alleviate this problem should be welcomed.

"This bill follows on from the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009, I am sure the bill will work towards creating a better situation for flood prevention."
