Stuart McMillan MSP, (SNP West of Scotland) has today welcome the news from the Scottish Government that hospital waiting times are to be slashed.Over the past two years the number of patients waiting more that nine weeks for key tests fell dramatically from 10,638 to only two.
Following an announcement by Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon that the current nine-weeks maximum for key diagnostic tests will be reduced by one-third to a maximum of six-weeks Stuart McMillan MSP said;
"This is fantastic news from the Scottish Government. Scotland has already seen a massive reduction in waiting times since the SNP took power in May last year and this further reduction will undoubtedly provide a better health service for the people of the West of Scotland.
"We have seen unprecedented success with the drop of those waiting for key tests over nine-weeks from over 10,000 down to only two people. The support from the Scottish Government by providing an additional £50 million of investment has been key to this success and one that should be welcomed universally.
"This further underlines the SNP’s commitment to making Scotland a healthier nation."
