Stuart McMillan MSP, (SNP West of Scotland) has today welcomed the recent announcement by the Post Office that they are to open a new facility at Harris Supermarket, Greenock. The service will operate from a newly formatted open plan counter that will offer a wide range of Post Office services alongside retail transactions.
Mr McMillan said;
" I was pleased to hear the recent announcement from the Post Office that they are to open a new facility in Greenock.
" This is excellent news for the community in the Corlic Street area who will benefit from being able to do their shopping and pay bills within the same complex, thus saving time and financial costs on travelling elsewhere.
" While opening this facility will be welcomed by the community I am in no doubt that constituents are still angry at the Post Office proposals to close branches in Brougham Street, Midton, Rankin Park and Port Glasgow.
" The many constituent I have met and have contacted my office are saying similar things that post offices should be kept local, as without such facilities many constituents, especially those who are elderly, will struggle to pay their bills due to geographical constraints."
